SME
Issues and Challenges
There
are many issues and challenges that confront Executives from Small and Medium-sized
Enterprises. Here is a short list of the ones that the IT Investment Architect
is working on for upcoming issues of the Semantic Viewpoint Newsletter:
- The high cost
of energy is affecting productivity. This at a time when SMEs need
more and better quality energy than ever before. Executives from SMEs want
new and better energy technology products that can give them the same kinds
of productivity gains as the Internet. Executives want to look at alternative
energy sources like Hydrogen Fuel Cells. They are looking for opportunities
to band together in order to influence and enact local energy policies.
- The cost
of ensuring fairness and ethical management is on the rise. This
cost is detrimental to bottom-line growth in large companies and prohibitive
in Pre-Initial Public Offering Companies. These costs stem from the brute
force mechanisms that are being utilized. Pre-IPO Executives and their boards
are looking for new solutions to reduce cost and increase productivity that
may involve new kinds of automation tools like the Semantic Web.
- On-demand
consumers are wrecking havoc on business plans. In this new business
environment, customers want to be treated as peers. They don’t want
to be owned. They have the ability to acquire services at any price point
they desire because of technology. They are very skeptical of any claim,
self-reliant and radically independent.

for the next generation of productivity growth.
